Orthopedic Pillows — Cutting The Pain

August 18th, 2009 @ 7:53 am

There must be hundreds of different type pillows in our world. Fat ones, skinny ones, long ones, short ones… all kinds from everywhere. Most are used for decoration, lets face it, and not overly useful for those times when we really need comfort for our bodies. We can spend quite a few dollars on pillows for decor, but wouldn’t it be best to spend our money on pillows we can receive a return from the initial investment?

An Orthopedic Pillow is not so much for decor, but great for function, for a body that functions well. It’s purpose is to bring comfort to your and my wore-out old bodies! A good night’s rest for many of us, depends on a good functioning Orthopedic Pillow. It’s worth the small amount of money to have healthy bodies.

There are different kinds of Orthopedic Pillows. Each type of pillow has their specific purpose. Let’s look at a few.

The cervical pillow is designed to give much needed support to the neck and upper spine area. With out proper support in the cervical spine area, unnecessary pressure bares down on the spine and causes much discomfort and can lead to many physical ailments, down the road.

The knee pillow, also known as the whole body pillow is used to comfort the legs and knees, which gives support to your pelvis and lower spine. A well supported pelvis and lower spine will have anyone sleeping soundly, like a baby, only to wake refreshed and ready to go!

Though the cervical and body pillows are for the sleeping hours, the lumbar pillow which supports the middle spine area, is for those long hours in a sitting position. The lumbar pillow is great to have in your office chair or in your car for those long trips. These days, many people have office jobs where most of their hours are at their desk and in front of the computer. With the lumbar pillow in place, your spine will stay healthy, while you work. So, when you get up out of your chair, your spine is strong and ready to get you where you need to go.
