Choosing The Right Dog Breed For You And Your Family

It’s important to really think about what type of dog breed you want to buy before jumping into it. Dogs are a huge responsibility that require a lot of care and attention for you and your family. Dogs also need socialization so they don’t get aggressive and over protective. Obedience training is also needed so they don’t acquire bad behaviors.

There are many considerations to think about before buying a dog. Remember to consider the breed you buy carefully!

- Size: Size can be a huge consideration. It could be depending on where you live or maybe just a preference. If you live in an apartment or in the city, having a small dog would probably suit your lifestyle better. Large dogs need more energy then smaller sized dogs. Also, if you have children then some dogs are more fragile then other dogs. Young children may want to rough play with your dog and it could seriously injury him.

- Energy Level: Different breeds of dogs have different energy levels. Some are more active and need more exercise. If you have a small house or a house with no yard, having a breed with a high energy level may cause some problems.

- Playfullness: Some breeds are more playful then others. Some breeds will constantly have a toy in their mouth, while others may like to lounge around and watch tv with you. Dogs that are tolerant and playful may be better suited for families with children.

- Affection Level: If you find dog drool and kisses gross, an extremely affectionate dog may not be the best type for you. Dogs that are affectionate love to be around you and love to me cuddled and give kisses.

- Friendliness Towards Other Pets: If you have other pets in the house, this may be a huge consideration. Cats, birds, rodents, and any other pets could be injured. Some dogs have a natural instinct for hunting too.

- Ease of Training: Some dogs are easier to train then others. If you need a dog that will trian easy you should consider a dog breed that is intelligent.

- Protection Ability: Larger dogs are better for protecting houses or people.

- Grooming Requirements: If you don’t know how to groom your dog at home you may be spending money every few months on grooming your dog.

- Cold/Heat Tolerance: Some dogs are better suited for cold and hot weather.
