zoos have been one of the favorite activities of Americans for a long time from the first zoo to be the Philadelphia Zoo in 1859. Since then, most states have at least a zoo, but there are some that stand above the rest of them with additional features like a contact tank, bird houses, safari and water fountains and parks. This article mentioned the first 4 zoos in the United States and the reasons are above others. Those who made the first four are the Columbus Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Lion Country Safari and the Phoenix Zoo.
The Columbus Zoo has also been present since the 1800s, becoming the second oldest zoo in the country . This had always been a nice zoo, but changed completely when the famous animal trainer, Jack Hanna became director of the zoo. He changed a lot about him with great improvements, and now houses one of the largest collections of animals in the world with over 7,000 animals in the zoo. Any type of animal you can imagine seeing, is probably at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio, plus a water park, amusement park and golf course making it a great place to visit.
Zoo San Diego has always been at the top of the list of the best zoos in the United States not only, but in the world. It is huge and has a variety of animals including the giant panda exhibit known. This zoo is also known for his conservation efforts and protection of animals and is considered the most modern of all zoos. They were the first ones to show less cage for animals in an outdoor classroom setting that allows animals to live in an area closest to its natural place of origin.
Number three in the zoo list above is the Zoo Lion Country Safari in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is a bit of a different experience for visitors to come into place in your own car and travel the five-kilometer road that takes you down different animals. Some animals such as lions and chimpanzees have to be behind fenced areas for their safety and drivers, but other animals like giraffes and zebras roam freely, sometimes cars have to continue down the road. The zoo is the fourth best zoo in Phoenix, Arizona. This zoo is the largest non-profit organization in the country and more than 125 acres with over 1,200 large animals. This zoo has a unique design with all exposures in animals hiking trails on 4 long and divided into categories such as Arizona’s native wildlife. They also allow the skates and bikes at the zoo and that can be adopted in all the ways to experience the zoo on wheels.
